Marci Smith, LCSW-C, Therapist
My goal as a therapist is to help clients deal with overwhelming problems and emotions in a more positive way by restoring balance to their everyday lives. My areas of specialization includes working with individuals who experience or suffer from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and co-occurring disorders. I have experience in helping to find resolutions for those dealing with parent and/or couple conflict. Lastly, based on both personal and professional experience, I can identify with twin moms and moms with babies in the NICU to provide additional support during difficult transitions.
My sessions often focus on parenting skills, anger management and stress management. I love to incorporate mindfulness practices and aim to provide appropriate support for those that need it, which allows for an upgrade in personal functioning.
I utilize concepts like CBT, solution-focused therapy, family systems therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness-based approaches in my sessions. I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health clinics, school-based therapy programs as well as private practice.
I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology in 2005 from Nova Southeastern University. From there, I went on to pursue my Masters Degree in Social Work in 2007 from University of Maryland. I have over 13 years of experience working as a therapist with individuals, couples and families to improve their overall wellness.
I am excited to join the Perissos team and am happy to be currently accepting out-of-network clients!
