Spotlight Series: Acupuncture at Woodberry Wellness

We love referring clients to local resources who (in addition to talk therapy!) can help improve their quality of life by reducing symptoms or helping make life run more smoothly in some way. The "Spotlight" section each month will include an interview with a local professional who works with clients like YOU!  This first spotlight is on...Gena Roberge from Woodberry Wellness!

How did you get started with your business/career:

Acupuncture as a career fell into my lap in the year 2009. I received treatment for neck pain and when I left my first appointment I couldn’t believe how relaxed I felt. It was at a time in my life that I was trying to figure out my business future, so I checked out the nearest Acupuncture school (MUIH) which happened to be one of the best Chinese Medicine schools in the country. What I didn’t know when I signed up was that I would learn so much more about myself, my energy, and my body and I was given the wisdom to cultivate whatever I wanted for my life and in turn, share this with my patients. What are you passionate about when it comes to working with your clients? I’m most passionate about giving my patients a deeper understanding of their bodies, mind, spirit, and energy. We have so much more power over how we feel physically and emotionally than we realize. I never want my patients to rely on any medicine, including Chinese Medicine. Giving patients their power back in being their own greatest advocates and healers is what gets me excited to go to work every day and it’s also a lot of fun to watch my patients face as their pain is relieved within seconds of me treating them. What are your specialties? In Chinese Medicine we have the holistic ability to treat just about anything, however, I have a particular interest in reproductive health. Seeing my patients move through their fertility process with ease and success and be able to celebrate their families' growth is such an amazing experience and I feel so lucky to be a part of their journeys. How does your work provide relief, insight or other benefits to your clientele? Acupuncture has a unique ability to encourage the body to heal itself. The points send signals to the brain, which releases hormones like beta-endorphins to signal to the body to do things like relieve inflammation and pain, improve mood, regulate systems, balance hormones and much more. As far as fertility, I get to help my clients by treating the root causes of their infertility like endometriosis, PCOS, etc. I also support them through prenatal care by helping with nausea, reflux, back pain, and headaches. And finally, through postpartum care with things like increasing milk production, balancing hormones and mood, sleep, etc. Bonus info about acupuncture at Woodberry Wellness -
